sketch for new shirt I’m making for my Mediterranean-inspired battle mage. I got 100% wool coating (which is thin yet WARM!) and dyed it red.
You won’t believe how….Kool Aid. 5 boxes. Worked (disturbingly) like a charm.

Strongarm Summerbride Shield
So, my half-troll won a Fay talent/beauty contest. She is now the Summerbride for the next year (and is immune to fire attacks, HA!) I thought I should update her shield to incorporate her half-breed clan symbol (Strongarm) with her achievement. Of course, Fay things are always flashy and glittery, so much glitter all around.
This shield was made of masonite with a top layer of cardboard. I painted the design with acrylic paint, then added 3 layers of polyurethane to seal the cardboard from the elements. Lots of glitter and fake gems!

What I’ve been up to:

Made a shield for my main character. It’s made of 4 pieces of thick cardboard, fused together with wood glue. The raw cardboard edges I covered with electrical tape, and then plastered the whole thing (once the design was painted) with 6 or 7 layers of Mod Podge and Acrylic sealer.

The finished shield has a carrying strap attached to the D-Rings and a little pouch for items.

My character chose the Pomegranate as the design for the front. It represents prosperity, but not without hard work. (Plus adds to my Mediterranean look too)

When I first saw the results of this process, it reminded me of cave paintings due to its irregular reticulation and rough inking process. So I featured a big fat juicy horse in mine.

Second phase of making my paper mache goblin skull….cloth mache with old bed sheets.
It’s going to be the top part of a spooky windchime made out of bones and flattened silverware.

Upcoming Projects:

  • a windchime made of twisted up utensils and goblin bones (in progress)
  • manticore taxidermy head
  • 1-handed blunt boffer weapon shaped like a giant baguette

Awesome response from everybody for my half-troll’s bastard blunt weapon! Figured I’d show her other pride and joy……..this ham took me WAAAY longer to figure out how to make than any other boffer I’ve done, but it’s pretty much her go-to weapon now. (And she’s killed some pretty crazy stuff with it. )

Unfortunately the game I play only allows duct tape weapons, so I have to make do with ugly duct tape and no pretty plasti-dip or cloth covering.

Yep, so she’s a ham and shield fighter.
